Friday the 13th Murder Mystery

Posted On: Friday, May 13th, 2011

Just when you thought it was safe to go out for a quiet dinner…

Normally for the residents of our Morningside Garden Norwalk apartments and Stamford rentals, going out for dinner can be anything from a casual family affair at  Rio Mexican Restaurant or the Bertucci’s Brick Oven Pizza, or a five-star dining experience at Harbor Lights on Long Island Sound or at Dolce on Weed Avenue, but rarely does it involve murder, and on Friday the 13 th no less! Tonight at 7 p.m., the Norwalk Seaport Association is holding a “Murder Mystery: Double Trouble” at the Norwalk Inn & Conference Center benefitting the Sheffield Lighthouse. Admit it, you’ve always wanted to go to one of these, right? Here’s your chance to enjoy a fine dinner, help solve a mystery and support a local historic landmark. (more…)

Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum Opening

Posted On: Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

Living at Morningside Gardens Norwalk apartments has many advantages, one of them being their close proximity to the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion. A National Historic Landmark, the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum is one of the earliest and most significant Second Empire Style country houses in the United States. It was built by railroad baron LeGrand Lockwood during and after the Civil War (1864 to 1868). In 1965, the Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk established a Museum Corporation board to restore and operate the Mansion as a public museum, a national center for Victorian studies and a community center for exhibits and concerts.

This year, local residents of Norwalk should plan on attending the Museum’s opening on April 8 which will commemorate the Civil War Sesquicentennial with the unveiling of the exhibition, Mansion Fragments: Innovations in Architecture, Design, and Technology from the Civil War Era, featuring objects drawn from the museum’s permanent collection. The Museum is also a popular place to hold a wedding, anniversary party, corporate function, or any special family event you might be planning. (more…)
